Two Serious Motorcycle Accidents Leave One Dead, One Hurt

By: wftv.com9

"ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- There were two serious accidents involving motorcycles in Orange County on Friday. One rider was killed and the other was badly hurt.

One side of US-192 is in Orange County and the other side is in Osceola County. The fatal accident happened in the middle Friday afternoon.

A Suzuki high-performance motorcycle, a sport bike, was in pieces. The Mercedes it plowed into had its passenger side completely smashed in. The Florida Highway Patrol said the car was turning with the green arrow off of US-192 onto Orange Lake Boulevard, when the cycle ran the red light.

Troopers said the rider, 19-year-old Juan Ramon Flores, was killed. The driver of the car was hurt, but not seriously.

The Florida Highway Patrol was not sure how fast the bike was going.

In another accident Friday, at 7:30 in the morning, troopers said motorcycle rider Michael Harker was topping 100 miles an hour when he plowed into a van that had just turned onto Pine Avenue.

FHP said Harker braked and skidded 113 feet before impact. He was also riding a sports bike type cycle and troopers said he was not licensed to operate a motorcycle.

Eastbound 192 was shut down for more than two hours."
